ABOUT
THIS REPORT: The League of Women Voters’ Resource Committee on Water
identified questions relating to the ownership of Lexington’s water utility
and pulled together research in an attempt to provide background and information
related to this issue.
The
report and resource materials are presented here to enable League members and
the public to examine information related to the issue.
On
October 11, 2005 the League of Women Voters of Lexington concluded that “based
on …all of the research and deliberations, the League of Women Voters of
Lexington favors public ownership of Lexington’s water utility.
We further conclude that under any ownership (public or private), local
citizens should maintain oversight of water resources.”
What
