Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters holds candidate forums to allow voters to learn about candidates. It is important to be well educated on the issues and positions of candidates prior to voting. By learning about candidates’ plans and stances before going to the polls, voters are able to make informed decisions about which candidates best represent them in government. As a nonpartisan political organization, the League is uniquely positioned to facilitate an unbiased platform for candidates to share their platforms and beliefs.

The Candidate Forums Committee has had the tremendous opportunity to partner with other community groups, the local media, and the Lexington Public Library to increase the reach of the forums. During the Coronavirus pandemic, the league shifted to doing virtual forums via Zoom, which are recorded and shared via social media. With the easing of the pandemic, the LWV of Lexington has continued to record candidate forums to foster maximum accessibility, but also co-sponsors in-person events, such as Candidate Meet and Greet opportunities.

The public is encouraged to participate by submitting questions for candidates. Use this Google Form to submit questions for the 2026 Primary Election.
