Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration [in person]

  • Central Bank Center Lexington (map)

The Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and University of Kentucky will come together to once again co-sponsor the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration on Monday, January 17, 2022. The 2022 events feature the Freedom March at 10:00 a.m., and a virtual program screening directly after at 11:00 a.m. Organizations and groups participating in the march are encouraged to carry identifying signs and banners.

Pre-march line-up will take place in the Central Bank Center in Exhibit Hall C. Our 2022 program themed, "Dr. King's Beloved Community 2022: Facing a Time of Reckoning in an Age of Denial," and will be screened in the Central Bank Center, Ballroom 3 directly following the march.

Due to the continued navigation of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be continuing some adopted March procedures from last year while bringing back some of our traditional functions.

We encourage the safe participation of individuals and community groups who have been such a critical part of the success of this march for many years.
